Submitting to Agents & Publishers - What Research Do You Do?

Call me obsessive, and you may be right, but I try not to submit to an agent or publisher unless I've read at least one book they have worked on or put out. This practice has more than once helped me decide a certain person or company would not be a good fit for me, but more importantly I've found some wonderful books I would have otherwise missed out on.

What research do you do before submitting to agents and publishers?
